I cannot address Kau Kan - but I can tell you that we have stayed at Las Palmas for four years - our fifth trip is in a few weeks. We cannot wait!
We typically split our time between staying in Zihua on La Ropa (i.ee - Villa Carolina, La Quinta Troppo) and then head out to Las Palmas. We like spendng a few days shopping, heading to Las Gatas, walking La Ropa and Madera, and enjoying the flavor of Zihua. We have ventured into Ixtapa once - not our style.
When you are at Las Palmas you truly feel like you are hidden away in a tropical paradise. Sherri and the staff are incredible and will go out of their way to assist you in any way. The rooms are spectacular. We have always stayed on the upper floor. There is a beautiful pool, a wonderful bar -where you can get to know the other guests. The food is fabulous. I love coming down for dinner barefoot and listening to the waves. We usually bicycle down to Barra de Potossi (sp?) and take long walks on the beach - not to mention naps. Bring a book and relax!
I was sceptical about staying there the first year - becasue it is a little more remote - but that is one of the things that makes it so special! We have increased the number of days that we stay there each and every year. Give it a shot - you will enjoy!
