My experience last January with this small hike is as follows: I asked Franko at Ottillas on Los Gatos where to find the trailhead to the lighthouse. He had one of his helpers act as a guide for the first 100 yards as we were led through the back of the restaurant through a couple of wire fences and past two very large dogs that the guide needed to fend off with a stick. Having got past the dogs, it is an easy walk from there on a good path up the hill towards the lighthouse. At the top before reaching the lighthouse we came accross a locked gate and fence that extended to the edge of a cliff over looking the crashing surf below. You could see signs of people scooting around the fence at the cliffs edge, but we thought better of going on any further. To do so whould have been trespassing and more than slightly dangerous.
